Concerns Raised Over Ghana Military Enlistment: Is August/September Recruitment for Everyone or Protocol Only?

Published by Job Seekers News | Date: July 31, 2025

A Facebook user has sparked a nationwide conversation over the transparency of Ghana’s military recruitment process, questioning whether the upcoming August/September enlistment is truly open to the public or reserved for protocol candidates.

In a direct comment addressed to the Minister of Defence, Dr. Omane Boamah, the user wrote:

“Good afternoon Dr Omane Boamah, please, I have a great concern about something much more revealing and I am in total shock! Just today, intelligence gathered says Officer Cadets have reported for training. So, the upcoming recruitment, is it for other ranks or Officer corps included!? There seems not to be transparency, and I’m confused about what the August-September recruitment process is… Protocol lists have already been submitted in some communities. What’s happening in Ghana Doc?”

Minister Responds: “We’re Resetting Ghana”

The Minister of Defence, Dr. Omane Boamah, responded promptly, seeking to calm public concerns and assure citizens of a transparent process moving forward. He clarified:

“Lezcano Tech, let me set your mind at peace. The Officer Cadets you’re referring to were processed under the previous government. We only audited and sanitized the list.

Because of the audit, many were disqualified because they had not met the set criteria.

Expect the first batch of enlistment and recruitment advertisement under the current Military High Command in due course. We’re resetting Ghana!”

This clarification confirms that:

  • The officer cadets currently in training are from a previous government-approved batch.

  • An audit and verification process was conducted, leading to disqualifications where criteria were not met.

  • New and transparent recruitment advertisements will be released soon by the current Military High Command.

  • Applicants should disregard rumors or protocol list submissions happening in some communities.
