The Centre for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Services (CERSGIS) is a leading institution based at the University of Ghana. We are looking for an innovative and detail-oriented Mobile and Web Application Developer to join our team. In this role, you will transform complex geospatial data into user-friendly, impactful applications that support critical decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities
As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for:
Full-Stack Development: Designing, developing, and maintaining responsive web and mobile applications from concept to deployment.
Geospatial Integration: Seamlessly integrating GIS and remote sensing datasets into interactive applications and dashboards.
Collaboration: Working closely with project teams to understand user needs and translate them into effective technical solutions.
Performance & Security: Ensuring applications are secure, scalable, and optimized for high performance.
Deployment & Support: Deploying applications on cloud/local servers and providing thorough documentation, user support, and training.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in web and mobile application development.
Strong proficiency in:
Front-end: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue).
Back-end: Node.js, Django, or similar server-side frameworks.
Hands-on experience with mobile development frameworks like React Native, Flutter, or Ionic.
Familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MySQL, or MongoDB.
Solid understanding of API development and integration (REST, GraphQL).
Experience with version control using Git.
Highly Desirable:
Experience with geospatial libraries and web mapping tools (Leaflet, OpenLayers, Mapbox, ArcGIS Online).
Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Proven experience in deploying applications to production environments (web servers, Google Play Store, Apple App Store).
